Senior Management Committee Bids Farewell to Lady Justices Langa, Bareebe, Kaitesi in Style

The atmosphere at the Kampala Serena Hotel was filled with warmth, laughter, and appreciation as the Senior Management Committee gathered to honor Lady Justice Sarah Langa Siu, Lady Justice Rosemary Bareebe Ngabirano, and Lady Justice Mary Kaitesi Kisakye. 

The trio, who were recently elevated as Judges of the High Court, have been members of the Committee.

It was a night of reflection, celebration, and farewells-an opportunity to recognize the dedication and achievements of these remarkable Lady Justices as they step into new roles.

Dr. Pius Bigirimana, Chairperson of the Senior Management Committee, set the tone for the evening with words that resonated deeply with everyone present. With a smile, he remarked, "Yesterday, we had their worships; today, we have their Lordships. We should thank God for that." His words carried a sense of pride and gratitude, emphasizing the significance of the occasion. He spoke passionately about destiny and purpose, reminding everyone that God creates each person for a reason. "None of us was created for nothing," he said. "We must always see ourselves as treasures of God. Service is the rent we pay for the gift of life."

As he looked around the room, filled with senior managers who had worked closely together, he acknowledged the strong leadership and teamwork that had defined their journey. He expressed his admiration for the team and their ability to support one another, quoting, "Teamwork makes things happen." Although he knew he would miss the newly appointed Justices, he assured them that their impact would remain.

When Lady Justice Sarah Langa Siu stood to speak, her voice carried a mix of gratitude and nostalgia. She thanked the PS/SJ for organizing such a beautiful evening, calling it a moment of family and fellowship. "This feels like the last supper," she said capturing the bittersweet nature of the gathering. She described the night as an answered prayer, a culmination of years of dedication and service.

Reflecting on her journey, she spoke of her greatest achievement-becoming the Chief Registrar. A role that had shaped her in profound ways, allowing her to serve the Judiciary with dedication. With excitement, she shared that she would soon be launching a book titled "Qualified by God" a testament to the power of faith and divine guidance throughout her career. "The Lord has enabled me to be the pioneer Chief Registrar under AJA, which has transformed the Judiciary," she said. "He has proven that age is just a number." Her words were filled with conviction as she expressed gratitude for the path she had walked.

She looked around the room, acknowledging the many people who had played a role in her journey. "I leave with a big heart and new friendships," she said. "There is nothing I regret because it has all been for a purpose." She emphasized the importance of strong coordination between the Chief Registrar's Chambers and the Office of the Permanent Secretary, expressing her appreciation for the support she had received. "We will not disappoint the Senior Management," she assured them. "We shall go out, shine, and continue to administer justice."

Lady Justice Rosemary Bareebe Ngabirano spoke next, her voice filled with emotion as she reflected on the journey that had brought her to this moment. She began with a phrase that echoed her faith: "Ebenezer-thus far the Lord has brought us." She thanked the PS/SJ for his unwavering leadership and the positive changes he had brought to the Judiciary. She also expressed deep gratitude to her colleagues in Senior Management, acknowledging their contributions and the unity they had fostered. "I am forever grateful for the teamwork we have had," she said warmly. Turning to Lady Justice Sarah Langa Siu, she thanked her for her leadership, for being a guiding force within the Judiciary and Senior Management. "Thank you for blessing us and supporting us," she said sincerely.

Lady Justice Mary Kaitesi Kisakye spoke with heartfelt appreciation, directing her gratitude toward the PS/SJ. "I personally want to thank you for your encouragement," she said. "I have learned a lot from you-especially that where there is a will, there is a way." She highlighted the leadership qualities she had gained under his guidance, acknowledging the impact of his mentorship. Turning to her fellow senior managers, she expressed her gratitude for their support, hoping that they would continue to work together as a team. "It has been a pleasure working with you," she said. "As we step into this new journey, let’s go out, shine, and fight backlog."

The evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt speeches, and moments of deep appreciation. There were tokens of gratitude exchanged, a cake-cutting ceremony, and a shared sense of accomplishment. It was not just a farewell but a celebration of dedication, leadership, and service.

As the night drew to a close, there was an overwhelming sense that this was not just an end, but the beginning of anew chapter for these remarkable justices. And through it all, one thing remained clear-wherever they go, they will continue to serve with purpose, grace, and a commitment to justice.

The lordships were given tokens of appreciation.

The dinner was moderated by the Under Secretary, Ms. Maureen Kasande, who ensured the evening flowed seamlessly, making it a night to remember.
